Eric Wynalda is a former U.S National team player and Soccer Hall of Fame member who holds an impressive resume both on and off the field. Eric earned his first cap with the U.S. National Team at the age 20 and subsequently a spot on the 1990 FIFA World Cup roster, he played in both the 1994 and 1998 World Cups. Eric retired from the U.S National Team in 2000 as the all-time leading scorer in American history with 34 goals in his 106 career caps.
Professionally, Eric played for the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks of the American Professional Soccer League before moving to Bundesliga club FC Saarbrücken in 1992, making him the first American-born player to play for a top-level German team. With the launch of Major League Soccer in 1996, Eric returned to America to play for the San Jose Clash, scoring the first goal in league history and earning the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year honors that year. Over the next five years he also saw action with the Miami Fusion, New England Revolution and Chicago Fire before retiring from professional soccer in 2001. Eric was inducted into the U.S. National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2004.
More recently Eric has utilized his knowledge and soccer experience as an analyst and commentator on a number of leading sports shows including ESPN where he covered the FIFA World Cup and Fox Sports where he covered Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup matches. He also served as head coach and technical director of Las Vegas Lights FC in the USL Championship League. Eric's was previously the host of Wynalda Talks Football on SiriusXM and more recently can be found hosting For the Win on the Blue Wire podcast network.
